Wayne A. Hommel

Wayne A. Hommel, 79, of Dalmatia, left for his heavenly home on June 6, 2023. He was born in Herndon on October 23, 1943, a son the late Esther Mae and Albert S. Hommel. Wayne was employed as a truck driver for nearly 60 years for various companies including Gessner Logging, Kolva Logging, Mandata Poultry, Metal Industries, Overnight/Consolidated Freight, Phillips Products, Wilson Freight and UPS Freight, from which he retired. He was the owner/operator of his own rig for several years. He attended the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz, he was a member of Hickory Corners Fire Company and the Teamsters Union. Wayne enjoyed woodworking, collecting hats and Ertl/Winross trucks, singing and playing guitar. As a younger man, Wayne enjoyed driving sprint and late model race cars at Selinsgrove Speedway. He also raced go-karts with his son and wife. Later in life he continued his love for racing by attending and watching NASCAR and drag racing. Wayne was musically talented and enjoyed singing and playing in the church orchestra. As a young man, he sang with his family which was broadcast on the radio. Later he played in local musical groups with his brothers and son. He was an auctioneer and started Hommel's Auctioneering. Wayne was proud of the fact that he had visited every U. S. state. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially boating and fishing with them at his cabin Wayne is survived by his wife Evelyn Hommel; son, Keith (Lisa) Drumheller; grandchildren, Austin and Amber Drumheller; sister, Martha Winter; brother, John (Lois) Hommel; sister-in-law, Judy Coudriet; four step brothers, Grant Maneval, Elwood (Pat) Maneval, Leonard Maneval, Larry (Orpha) Maneval; step sister-in-law, Jane Maneval; step sister, Edna (Roger) Chubb. He was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Dan Winter, brother, Dennis Hommel, step-father, Howard Maneval, step brother, Lester Maneval, step sister, Linda Maneval. A viewing will be held on June 10, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz. Interment will take place in the Stone Valley Cemetery, Dalmatia. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz.
